The official poster of the Atlanta 1996 Centennial Olympic Games, was selected by Juan Antonio Samaranch (1920-2010), then president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
The artist Primo Angeli (1906-2003) was a celebrated graphic designer with a long career in corporate design. For Atlanta, he selected a classical figure recalling the origins of the Games in Greek antiquity. The white silhouette bears on its body the motif of the flame and stars from the Games emblem. Apart from the white human figure, the poster combines the five Olympic colours with black used for the lettering of the hosting city.
