The 1904 Olympic Games were the first held in the United States. Originally scheduled to take place in Chicago, they were relocated to St. Louis, Missouri, as part of the Louisiana Purchase Exposition (known as the St. Louis World’s Fair).
There was no official poster for the 1904 Olympic Games, but the cover of the Fair’s daily programme was later adopted. Strongly influenced by the Art Nouveau style that was popular at the time, it features an idyllic view of the city of St. Louis.
