The official poster of the Montreal 1976 Olympics was designed by Ernst Roch (1928-2003) and Rolf Harder (1929-2013). It was one of eight posters that focused on key themes of the Montreal Games.
The title of the poster is ‘The invitation’ and features the five Olympic rings designed with successive fading outlines. These ‘waves’ symbolically represent the sounds of invitation to the athletes of all countries and continents.
